The benefits of journaling are vast, including:

  • Enhancing Personal Resilience
  • Improving Overall Mood
  • Igniting Your Drive
  • Improved Cognitive Skills
  • Boost Your Immune System

Unfortunately, with the various benefits most struggle to stick with journaling. Journaling is a habit, and like all habits the “why” must be powerful enough to fully engage us. Journaling doesn’t have immediate rewards, one has to engage in the consistent practice to earn the rewards.

How To Make the Why Powerful

Ralph Simone from Get Emergent speaks to writing out a successful plan prior to journaling. Success planning will help you stay inspired and achieve your declarations and goals while remaining true to your purpose. Ralph designed the Planning Funnel to accomplish the plan.

Purpose:

To live a truly meaningful life, it helps to know our purpose. We have something to give that only we can offer and if we do not share it, the world and those around us are forever deprived of it. When we were children, we took risks most of the time. As adults, the risk of discover- ing our purpose can be very scary because, often times, it takes us out of our comfort zone into uncharted territory. In some cases, it draws us to swim upstream and to buck the external pressures of the social mirror. Only our true calling can inspire us to make such bold moves.

When searching for purpose, we can look within and seek guidance. We can ask, “What is my life about?” “Am I happy?” “What is right
for me?” “What feedback is my life giving me?” We can be confident that if we listen we will receive an answer. This is why it is important to find time to quiet your mind and begin or continue to follow your inner direction.

Values:

Reflect on your most important values that you use to guide your life and to make choices. We do what we value, we value what we do.

Declarations:

Creating a declaration is an act when an individual speaks to a new possibilities, new vantage point, a new playing field. Declarations are without limits. “Today, I will ….”

Energy Renewal:

There are four domains of energy renewal: physical, spiritual, emotional, and mental. When developing a plan it is critical that the plan engages each of  the domains.

VITAL Goals:

  • Verifiable
  • Inspiring
  • Time-Bound
  • Actionable
  • Limitless

Action:
