What Is It?

A focused, practitioner-led
mobility session.

Functional Stretch Therapy is DPR’s practitioner-led mobility and soft tissue service designed to restore motion, improve tissue health, and enhance functional movement capacity. It blends hands-on work with movement-based mobility so the goal is not just to stretch a body part, but to help you move that region better in the context of real movement.

The internal service model is built around Assess → Treat → Retest → Document, with the goal of identifying the primary driver of restriction and restoring more freedom, confidence, and control.

This is not generic stretching. It is a focused session built around what feels limited, what is not moving well, and what can improve right away.

Who It’s For

If one area feels stuck or restricted,
this is a strong fit.

Functional Stretch Therapy is built for people with a specific restriction who want focused, practitioner-guided support for that region.

Feel tight, stiff, or restricted in one specific area.

Notice you don’t move as well as you used to.

Feel blocked during squatting, lunging, reaching, rotating, walking, or training.

Want focused, hands-on support directed at one specific restriction.

Need a targeted next step after screening.

Want help understanding what feels restricted and what to do next.

Functional Stretch Therapy is positioned within the Move pathway as a focused, region-specific service alongside Practitioner Pro and small group training — one of DPR’s post-screening service paths for people with a localized mobility concern.

How a Session Works

Assess. Treat. Retest.
Direct the next step.

Every session follows the same clear rhythm — so you leave with change you can feel and a clear picture of what to do next.

01

Assess

We start by looking at the area that feels limited and the movement being affected.

  • Chief complaint conversation
  • Excursion testing
  • Stability-based reach testing
  • Focused range-of-motion screen
02

Treat

Your practitioner applies a focused combination of hands-on soft tissue work and movement-based flexibility strategies aimed at the localized concern.

  • Targeted soft tissue work
  • 3D flexibility & mobility
  • Active movement integration
03

Retest

We recheck movement quality. The goal is to see and feel a change in how the region moves, how the body organizes around it, and how much restriction is still present.

  • Before vs. after comparison
  • Reach & ROM re-measured
  • Change documented in your record
04

Direct the Next Step

Depending on the result, your next step may be:

  • Another FST session for the same concern
  • Progression into Practitioner Pro
  • Movement support in the Vitality App
  • A broader training or recovery path at DPR
Why DPR’s Approach Is Different

Most people think “tight muscles.”
We look deeper.

Functional Stretch Therapy is different because it is built around movement quality, not just passive stretching. The playbook defines success as improved soft tissue quality, increased joint and chain mobility, better movement confidence, clearer before-versus-after changes, and reduced compensation and restriction.

The session is not about feeling looser for a few minutes. It is about helping you understand what is restricted, improving how that area moves, and giving that change a functional purpose.

Frequently Asked

Good questions before you book.

Is this massage?
No. Functional Stretch Therapy is a practitioner-guided mobility and soft tissue session built around movement, not spa-style massage.
Is this physical therapy?
No. This is not physical therapy or medical diagnosis. It is a movement service designed to improve motion quality, reduce restriction, and help you move more confidently.
What does “localized concern” mean?
It means each session is focused on one primary area or movement limitation at a time — such as ankle restriction, low back stiffness, neck tightness, or overhead shoulder limitation.
Do I need a screening first?
Usually, yes. The Move pathway at DPR is built around starting with screening so the right service path can be chosen with more clarity. Book a screening.
How long is a session?
The Move page lists Functional Stretch Therapy as a 45-minute session.
What if I need more than one session?
That depends on the area involved, how long the restriction has been there, and how well you respond. Some clients benefit from a focused session or two, while others may need repeated work or a broader coaching plan.
Can this help me if I feel stiff but do not have pain?
Yes. This service is a strong fit for people who feel restricted, blocked, tight, or limited — even if they are not describing that problem as pain.
How do I book?
Booking and payment happen through DPR’s Mindbody system. Choose the area that feels most restricted, pick a time, and show up. Book Functional Stretch Therapy.
